The restaurants on the promenade at Atlas Marina will serve Turkish food exclusively; European cuisine will be available at the hotel restaurant. We have offered a guide here to give an idea of the kinds of food on offer Turkey.

Turkish food is particularly varied; there is something for every palette. Turkish ingredients are very comparable to the rest of the Mediterranean, lots of fresh vegetables, fish, olive oil and yoghurt. Turkish food is pleasantly spicy, although almost never too hot, even for the Northern European.

Restaurants and Cafés.

  • Kahve - serve only tea (çay) and Turkish, unfiltered coffee.
  • Locantas - different types of restaurants serving a variety of foods. One usually begins with meze, a series of cold starters which are usually on show in the shop window.

  • Içkili Locantas - as above but with an alcohol license.
  • Köftecisi - serve Köfte: warm spicy meatballs and bread.
  • Kebaçi - serve grilled meats and Kebab.
  • Pideci - serve Turkish pizzas, thin bottomed pizzas with the toppings folded inside.
  • Restorans - plate service restaurants where food can be chosen from a trolley, often have a menu as well.
  • Balik restoran - serve fresh fish (balik), which is chosen from a trolley or glass cabinet.

Döner Kebap - grilled lamb from the spit
Imam Bayildi - fried, peeled aubergine and tomatoes
Börek - puff pastry filled with cheese spinach or meat
Dolmai - vine leaves stuffed with rice of meat
Drink
Raki - alcoholic aniseed drink, taken with water and ice
Aryan - buttermilk, very good for cooling off
Wine - Turkey has a very good climate for wine, seek and ye shall find.
